Mary Jane (Mcknight) Swallen

Mary Jane Swallen, age 81 of Mason, Ohio and formerly of Mt.Orab, Ohio died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the Chesterwood Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Chester, Ohio. Mrs. Swallen and her husband, Don were the owners of Swallen’s Department Store in Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt.Orab, Ohio where she worked  for many years as the church secretary. She was born November 10, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late Elwood and Dorothy (Hunter) McKnight. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband – Donald Swallen in 2010 and one sister – Peggy Freiburger.

Mrs. Swallen is survived by four children – Bruce Swallen and wife Karla of Mason, Ohio, Stephen Swallen and wife Sue of Newtown, Ohio, Victoria McCracken of Milford, Ohio and Jim Swallen and wife Michelle of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren – Sean Swallen , Scott Swallen , Tyler (Hannah) Swallen, Dean (Susan) Walker, Heather (Greg) Goeke, Jason (Timicia) Swallen, Christopher (Jennifer) McCracken, Michael McCracken, Brendan (Sammi) McCracken, Casey McCracken, Connor McCracken , Brittany (JC) Fooce, Kevin (Samantha) Swallen, Kristen (Matthew) Williams and David (Michelle) Swallen; ten great grandchildren and one niece – Mary Freiburger.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family on Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio. Interment will be in the Mt.Orab Cemetery in Mt.Orab, Ohio.
