Olive JoAnn Bunton of Georgetown, Ohio passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Atlantes of Eastgate in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in Garrison, Kentucky the daughter of the late Vernon Leon and Verda Frances (Fultz) Gregory. JoAnn was a dedicated homemaker whose talents spanned from cooking to crafting, embodying a true spirit of creativity and care. She had a remarkable gift for cooking and baking and her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends. JoAnn found joy in sewing, quilting, crafting her own wine and showcasing her dedication to homegrown traditions by canning from her own garden. Her home was a reflection of her meticulous nature, with such cleanliness that her children often joked one could eat off the floors. JoAnn’s competitive spirit shone brightly in card games, whether playing with family or participating in euchre tournaments; she approached each game with enthusiasm and determination. Furthermore, JoAnn took immense pride in her beautiful flower gardens, spending countless hours perfecting them. Always well-presented, she earned the affectionate nickname “Miss Bling Bling” from her camping friends for her polished appearance. Above all, JoAnn cherished her time with others, forming connections easily and never meeting a stranger. She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2293 and the Carey Bavis American Legion Lodge #180 Ladies Auxiliary in Georgetown, Ohio, where she contributed to her community and built lasting friendships. JoAnn's legacy is one of love, joy and cherished moments that will be remembered by all who knew her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands – Richard Lee Melvin and Raymond Morgan Bunton and five brothers and sisters – Virginia Norbeth Harr, Violet Germanaro Vernon, Leon Gregory. Jr., Verda Irene Hardy and John Ray Gregory.
Mrs. Bunton is survived by four children – Rick Lee Melvin and wife Jeanette of Mt.Orab, Ohio, Robin jill Sipe and husband Howard of Bethel, Ohio, Rhonda Lunn Mullens and husband Kenny of Bethel, Ohio and Rachelle Joanna Baucom and husband Sam of Eastgate, Ohio; eight grandchildren – Sara Blank, Ryan Melvin, Nicholas Melvin, William Clements, Joanna Boyd, Brian Boyd, Jacqueline Baucoma and Jonathan Baucom; fifteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one brother – George William “Bill” Gregory and wife Jewel of Bethel, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio.
