Rev. Richard (Sam) McKinzie, age 65 of Sardinia, Ohio died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio. Rev. McKinzie was a design engineer at ITW and retired after thirty years of service. He was an ordained minister with the Kentucky Christian Conference and was the founder and Pastor of the Sardinia Railroad Souls Station in Sardinia, Ohio. Rev. McKinzie was born in Brown County, Ohio on April 10, 1940 the son of the late John and Mary Belle (Honaker) McKinzie. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John McKinzie and one sister, Freda Coleman.
Rev. McKinzie is survived by his wife of forty-six and one half years - Nella Joyce (Henson) McKinzie; four children - Bonita Kay (Stan) Adams and Sandra (Greg) Smith all of Sardinia, Ohio and Kathy (Tracy) Hutton and Samuel McKinzie all of Hillsboro, Ohio; seven grandchildren - Cindy and Melissa Kaetzel, Kelly Jo and Richard Spitznagel, Gregory Cake and Kelsey and Kerston McKinzie; two brothers - Jesse McKinzie of Higginsport, Ohio and Ralph McKinzie of Bethel, Ohio; six sisters - Dorothy Whisman of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Vivian Day of Bethel, Ohio, Susie Scaggs of Winchester, Kentucky, Margie Kunkel and JoAnn Maynard both of Georgetown, Ohio and Esther Ruth Allen of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Jack Hinton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 9 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Confidence Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Sardinia Railroad Souls Station, 8931 Katterman Road, Sardinia, Ohio 45171.
