Ronald Eugene Kendrick, Jr., age 57 of Ripley, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his residence. He was born on March 4, 1961 in Del Rio, Texas to Ronald Eugene Kendrick and Marie Antoinette Martin Kendrick. Ultimately, Ron was one of 16 children through the marriages of his father and his mother.
Ron graduated from Bath County High School in 1979 and from Morehead State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Electronics. After college, Ron worked as an Electronic Technician for Donotech, Ltd. in Owingsville. In 1985 he moved to Cincinnati to repair computers, cash registers and bank teller machines for TRW. In January of 2001 he became a PCA1 (Personal Computer Administrator) for the Auditor of the State of Ohio where he helped troubleshoot, repair and maintain the computer equipment of more than 800 state auditors.
Ron met Druann Pulliam Stivers at MSU in 1981 and they married on October 4, 1986. They welcomed three beautiful and brilliant daughters, Eliese Marie, Olivia Carol and Leanna Kristine. An active parent, Ron coached SAY soccer, helped with 4-H, Girl Scouts, and many school sporting and fundraising activities. After a head-on collision on June 9, 2004 Ron sustained life-altering injuries. Despite his limitations, Ron battled back and continued to work for the Auditor of State’s IT Help Desk. He remained active in his church and the community, played the guitar in the “Banks of the Ohio” dulcimer group for several years, and sang in the Centenary UMC’s Men’s Group. He collected comic books, enjoyed music, was a Trekkie, talented artist and musician, and was always able to help a friend solve their computer problems.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Druann Stivers Kendrick, daughters Eliese, Olivia (Jalen Dudley, boyfriend) and Leanna Kendrick (Manny Escobedo, boyfriend), mother Marie Garcia (Jose), sisters: Esther Wilcox (Ronnie), Becky Letcher, Dianna Lopresto, Jane Pocus (Jim), Sandra Riddle (Ron), Cindy Wells (Justin), Corina Nash, and brothers: Jerry Kendrick (Tracy), Raymond Kendrick (Mary), Marion LoPresto (Diane), Jeff Lopresto, Ronald Nash, mother-in-law Carol Stivers (Bob Blom), brothers-in-law Alan Stivers, and Steve Stivers (Karen), and 25 nieces and nephews and he always loved children.
He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Kendrick and step-mother, Margie LoPresto Kendrick, brothers Darrell LoPresto, Russell LoPresto and a sister, Roberta Nash.
Arrangements: Visitation/Calling Hours will begin at 11:00am on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 110 N. 2nd Street, Ripley, OH. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00pm with internment in Maplewood Cemetery immediately following.
