Virgil Lee Penny, age 80 of Georgetown, Ohio died Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley, Ohio. He was born May 1, 1946 in Old Willis Branch, West Virginia the son of the late Virgil Vernon and Opal Lee (Donell) Penny. Virgil’s professional life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his career at Senco, where he retired after an impressive 40 of service. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was an active member of the Faith Community Church in Sardinia, Ohio. Virgil found great joy in bowling. He spent countless hours at Community Lanes Bowling Alley, not only perfecting his own game but, more importantly, sharing his knowledge and love for the sport with the next generation as a guiding force in the junior league. His patience and encouragement helped shape the skills and lives of many young bowlers. Through his lifetime, Virgil touched many lives, both through his professional endeavors and his community involvement. His legacy is one of service, commitment and genuine care for others. Besides his parents, Virgil was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years – Sharon Louise (Mitchell) Penny in 2025 whom he married May 5, 1968; one brother – Robert Penny, one sister – Louise Penny and two brothers-in-law –Ronald and Elmer Lee Mitchell.

Mr. Penny is survived by one daughter – Carolyn Penny of Georgetown, Ohio; two sons – Ralph Penny and wife Nicole of Georgetown, Ohio and Tony Penny and wife Delana of Mason, Ohio; nine grandchildren – Andy and wife Kaitlin, Emily and husband Hunter, Stephanie, Jordan, Sawyer, Reagan, Kolby, Kristina and Lainia; four great grandsons – Henry, Wesley, Ledger and Wayne; five sisters – Linda Penny of Hamersville, Ohio, Linda Newberry and husband Dwayne, Dorlene Fields and husband Jake, Rosey Barber and husband Roger, Joann Barber and husband Dale all of Mt.Orab, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Sam Talley and Chuck Gray will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Linwood Cemetery in Russellville, Ohio with military services by the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180 of Georgetown, Ohio.
