Evelyn Hamilton Obituary

On Thursday, March 4th God called his servant, Evelyn Hamilton, Home. Florence Evelyn Knechtly Hamilton was born on November 19, 1923 to Albert and Bernice Knechtly near Russellville Ohio.  The family moved to Feesburg, Ohio where she attended elementary school and she graduated from Hamersville high school in 1941.

She worked at the government Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Georgetown after graduation where she met her future husband.  She and Gene Hamilton were married on December 15, 1943 and had a loving marriage for almost 58 years.  To this union two beautiful children were born.  Son, Ronald, preceded his parents in death at a very young age and daughter, Sue Risner, who lives in the Cincinnati area.  To that number has been added a grandson, Matthew Risner, his wife Deanna, and two great grandchildren, Makayla and Clay.

Evelyn and Gene were engaged in farming in Levanna, Ohio until they semi-retired and moved to Georgetown, Ohio.  They spent their 58 years together side by side serving the Lord, farming, traveling and just living life as God guided them.  Activity in the church was the center of their lives.

She moved to the Cincinnati area in 2005 to be closer to her daughter.   Although she moved to assisted living in 2020, she was still able to care for herself and remained active until a month or so before her death.

She was baptized in 1947 and was a longtime member of the Ripley Church of Christ.  She moved her membership to Milford Christian Church where it remained until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Albert, husband, Gene, son, Ronnie, brother Eddie, and twin infant brothers.

In addition to her daughter, grandson and his family, she leaves to mourn her passing:  sister-in-law Anna Mae Knechtly, nephews, Dennis, Darrell, David Knechtly and their families, son-in-law, Mike Igney, cherished friends Sharon Layman, Kathy Haitz and their families, many cousins and dear friends.

If desired, memorials can be made in her remembrance to The Ripley Church of Christ, 105 N. 3rd Street, Ripley, Ohio 4167.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 7th at 2:00 pm at Pisgah Ridge Cemetery, Levanna, Ohio. The Cahall Funeral Home in Mt. Orab, Ohio is serving the family.
