Charles G. Merrill, age 70 of Ripley, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at his residence.  He was retired from Eastern Kentucky Power Plant where he was a coal yard foreman.  He was also a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post 367 of Ripley, a longtime member of the Ripley Boat Club, a member of the Eagles Lodge in Mayville, Kentucky, a member of the Moose Lodge in Maysville and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ripley.  Mr. Merrill was born August 14, 1945 in Maysville, Kentucky the son of the late Houchen Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Wright) Merrill.  He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law – Barb Merrill and a niece – Jennifer Merrill.

Mr. Merrill is survived by his wife – Jane (Ramby) Merrill; five children – his loving son Angus, Indra Perry (Roger) of Illinois, Melanie Bussell (Patrick) of Hillsboro, Kentucky; Chuck Merrill (Michelle) of Aberdeen, Ohio and Zach Merrill (Miranda) of Delhi, Ohio; two step-children – Rob Cook of Lebanon, Ohio and Robin Trainer (Barry) of Lebanon, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; three sisters – Frankie Schumacher (Bernard) of Ripley, Ohio, Carol Eaton (Bob) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Jann Willis of Covington, Kentucky; two brothers – Don Merrill of Cincinnati, Ohio and John Merrill (Deborah) of Norwood, Ohio; a special niece – Lori Blackburn of Ripley, Ohio; numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday June 17, 2016 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio.  Rev. Wayne Reveal will officiate.  Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Friday.  Interment will follow the funeral service in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Ohio with military honors provided by the Courts-Fussnecker American Legion Post #367 of Ripley.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity, cause or organization of the donor’s choice.
